Parquet de Paris gears up for Champions League final: enhanced security ahead of PSG vs Arsenal clash
Seven magistrates, including specialists from the juvenile court, are on standby to handle potential public order disturbances following the high-stakes football match.
The judicial authorities are finalizing their preparations for one of the season’s most anticipated sporting events. The Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office has announced the activation of an enhanced security protocol this weekend, specifically to address potential public order incidents related to the Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal taking place on Saturday in Budapest.
According to official statements, as many as seven magistrates will be on duty, covering both adult and juvenile courts, in addition to specialized units. “The juvenile court’s standby procedures have been adjusted in coordination with neighboring jurisdictions,” explained a spokesperson. “This ensures swift responses for minors residing outside Paris who may be involved in incidents.”
With violent disturbances already anticipated by police authorities, the Paris Public Prosecutor emphasized a proactive approach, noting that “preventive detentions will be prioritized starting Saturday, even before major gatherings occur.” In cases requiring extended investigations beyond standard custody periods, judicial inquiries can be launched. “Any serious offense reported but not addressed during immediate response may be subject to thorough follow-up for subsequent prosecution,” the prosecutor’s office warned.
