Paris on champs-élysées cancelled if psg wins champions league

No Champs-Élysées celebration planned even if PSG clinches Champions League crown

Paris Saint-Germain’s hopes of a triumphant return through the heart of the French capital remain unfulfilled. A victory against Arsenal in Saturday’s UEFA Champions League final will not be marked by the traditional open-top bus parade along the Champs-Élysées, Paris police authorities have confirmed.

Organizers had long anticipated this scenario: a second consecutive Champions League trophy for the Parisian club. Yet, in a move that surprised many, the Préfecture de Police has officially decided against authorizing the customary celebration route.

City officials have not cited specific reasons for the decision, but the absence of such a parade reflects broader shifts in how major sporting achievements are publicly commemorated in France. Unlike previous decades when football triumphs often triggered large-scale public festivities, today’s authorities appear to prioritize controlled celebrations and public safety over spontaneous large gatherings.

PSG’s players will instead return to the capital in a more subdued manner, likely heading straight to Parc des Princes for a club-organized reception. The club’s leadership, however, has not yet issued an official statement regarding alternative plans to honor the team’s potential historic achievement.

What’s next for PSG?

Regardless of the parade decision, the focus remains squarely on Saturday’s 18:00 CET final in Budapest. A win would secure Paris Saint-Germain’s place among Europe’s elite clubs and cap a season of high expectations. Fans across France are preparing to gather in front of screens, while the team trains for what could be a defining moment in club history.
