Morocco joins international stabilization force for Gaza
In a significant diplomatic and military move, Morocco has formally endorsed the agreement to deploy troops as part of the International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza. The historic signing took place in Rabat, under the direct guidance of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and Chairman of the Al Qods Committee.
The landmark agreement was executed during a high-level meeting chaired by Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Abdeltif Loudyi, Minister Delegate in charge of National Defense Administration. The session brought together top military officials and was attended by a delegation led by Nickolay Mladenov, the High Representative of the Gaza Peace Council.
A commitment rooted in humanitarian and security imperatives
According to an official statement from the National Defense Administration, this participation underscores Morocco’s role as a founding member of the Gaza Peace Council, aligning with the Royal vision articulated during the council’s inaugural gathering in Washington.
The Moroccan authorities emphasized the Kingdom’s unwavering dedication to global peace, cooperation, and solidarity. They highlighted the FAR’s proven track record in United Nations peacekeeping missions and Morocco’s longstanding commitment to fostering stability across the region and beyond.
In recognition of Morocco’s contributions, officials from the Gaza Peace Council praised the country’s initiative, which includes:
- The deployment of senior Royal Armed Forces officers to the ISF’s joint command;
- The involvement of personnel from the Royal Gendarmerie and the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN);
- The establishment of a field military hospital.
The signed agreement establishes the legal framework governing the technical and operational aspects of Morocco’s involvement. It reflects a shared determination to restore peace and security in Gaza through concerted humanitarian and security efforts.
