Ivorian dailies highlight kabadougou development, baleine oil investment, pdci-rda anniversary

Abidjan, May 26, 2026 – Ivorian newspapers today extensively covered a range of national developments, with prominent features on the presidential tribute in Kabadougou, a significant investment announcement for the third phase of the Baleine oil field, and the ongoing preparations for the PDCI-RDA’s 80th-anniversary celebration.

In the Kabadougou region, a profound homage was paid to the head of state for his impactful development initiatives. Reports emphasized a “decade of transformation,” highlighting extensive improvements in infrastructure, roads, and educational facilities. Vice-Prime Minister Téné Birahima Ouattara was quoted, asserting that “development is not merely coincidental,” implying strategic and deliberate efforts.

Further reinforcing this narrative, it was underscored that President Ouattara’s vision is to “reduce disparities between regions.” This commitment materialized through the inauguration of several crucial new infrastructures by Téné Birahima during the regional tour.

On the economic front, the announcement concerning the third phase of the offshore Baleine oil field project garnered considerable attention. Côte d’Ivoire, in collaboration with its international partners, revealed a substantial investment aimed at advancing this critical hydrocarbon venture.

Specifically, energy giants Eni, Petroci, and Vitol have committed a formidable $4 billion investment towards the realization of Baleine Phase 3. This massive undertaking is poised to deliver a significant boost to the nation’s energy sector.

Finally, the upcoming 80th-anniversary celebrations for the PDCI-RDA in Abengourou are generating considerable buzz across the media. Preparations are well underway for what is anticipated to be a powerful “demonstration of force,” with the main ceremony scheduled for May 30.

Amoikon Banga, president of the organizing committee, confirmed that the Indénié-Djuablin region is “gearing up for a robust showing.” He announced plans to mobilize “more than 10,000 militants” for this historic political event.
