FC Nantes voices strong condemnation after pitch invasion by supporters

In an official statement released the day after the abandoned Ligue 1 match against Toulouse, FC Nantes condemned with the utmost severity the incidents that marred the game.
The club, now relegated to Ligue 2, expressed its firm stance through a statement published on Monday afternoon. While acknowledging the frustration and distress of a grueling season culminating in sporting relegation, the club emphasized that its values, history, and identity must never be compromised by such behavior.
The statement read: « While the club fully understands the anger and disappointment stemming from a deeply challenging season and the resulting relegation, the presence of hooded individuals storming the pitch at the Stade de la Beaujoire created an atmosphere of intimidation and tension that is utterly unacceptable. A football stadium must remain a space of celebration, inclusivity, and safety for all.»
Nantes calls for unity, calm, and respect
The club extended its gratitude to the « vast majority of supporters » who maintained their composure despite the circumstances, as well as to the security teams and authorities who ensured safety throughout the evening. FC Nantes reaffirmed its commitment to « full cooperation with the authorities, Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP), and state services » to shed light on the events and establish accountability.
In closing, the club urged « unity, calm, and respect » to foster the best possible conditions for preparing the upcoming season.
