Endeavour Mining’s substantial economic and social contribution to Côte d’Ivoire between 2021 and 2025

Abidjan witnessed a significant announcement regarding Endeavour Mining’s financial injection into the Ivorian economy. Between 2021 and 2025, the mining company channeled an impressive 1,710 billion FCFA into Côte d’Ivoire, with 644 billion FCFA directly contributing to the state through various taxes, royalties, and dividends. These figures were unveiled in Endeavour Mining’s inaugural Country Impact Report dedicated to Côte d’Ivoire.

Titled « Créer de la valeur tangible » (Creating Tangible Value), the report was presented on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Endeavour Mining’s headquarters in Cocody. It meticulously details the achievements of the Ity and Lafigué mines, outlining their profound impact on economic contribution, community development, and environmental protection.

During the report’s presentation, Laetitia Gadegbeku-Ouattara, Endeavour’s Vice-President of Public Affairs and Country Director for Côte d’Ivoire, emphasized how the Ity and Lafigué operations have transformed gold into a genuine catalyst for sustainable development over the past five years. She reiterated the group’s unwavering commitment to fostering a partnership built on trust, transparency, and shared progress.

Further elaborating on the state’s share, Ms. Gadegbeku-Ouattara specified that 398 billion FCFA originated from taxes, 149 billion FCFA from royalties, and 97 billion FCFA from dividends. The company also reported dedicating 904 billion FCFA to purchases from local Ivorian suppliers, bolstering the national economy.

Endeavour Mining is a major employer in Côte d’Ivoire, providing jobs for over 1,350 individuals, with 94% being Ivorian nationals. The company also collaborates with 4,390 service providers and more than 600 local suppliers, solidifying its position as one of the country’s leading contributors to public revenue and its foremost gold producer.

In the crucial area of health, Ms. Gadegbeku-Ouattara highlighted that over 120,000 people have benefited from the company’s and its foundation’s initiatives focused on prevention, screening, and access to care. Notably, Health Caravans provided free consultations and treatments to nearly 4,000 individuals, while 64 patients received free cataract surgeries, significantly improving their quality of life.

Dr. Youssouf Koné, the Departmental Health Director of Zouan-Hounien, acknowledged Endeavour’s partnership as a vital support in the ongoing fight against malaria, greatly benefiting communities residing near the Ity mine.

Education also received substantial backing, with over 4,000 children and young people participating in the company’s educational programs between 2021 and 2025. Additionally, 842 students gained practical experience through internships. Key human capital development initiatives include « Élites de Demain » (Tomorrow’s Elites), « Jeunes Filles en Scolarité » (Girls in School), and « Pépites d’Or » (Gold Nuggets).

The report also detailed an investment exceeding 2.8 billion FCFA in vital community infrastructure. These funds facilitated 71 projects enhancing access to potable water and security, the rehabilitation of 16 roads benefiting over 360,000 people, the implementation of 10 rural electrification projects, and the issuance of 1,000 driving permits aimed at boosting youth professional integration.

Economically, over 3,000 individuals benefited from 284 income-generating initiatives, funded with 487 million FCFA, with a particular focus on empowering women and youth. The « N’Goto Yetehe » program, for instance, provided vocational training to 63 young people across eight trades in Lafigué.

On the environmental front, Endeavour reported planting over 158,000 trees and protecting or restoring 199 hectares of land between 2021 and 2025. Key actions included the « Un enfant, un arbre » (One Child, One Tree) program, conducted with schools, and the restoration of 125 hectares of classified forests in partnership with SODEFOR. The company also highlighted its « Vers Zéro Plastique » (Towards Zero Plastic) strategy, which achieved a 99% reduction in single-use plastic bottles over three years, eliminating more than 1.3 million bottles.

The Côte d’Ivoire Impact Report for 2021-2025 was presented to the host communities of the Ity and Lafigué mines. The audience included administrative and territorial authorities, customary leaders, and representatives from youth groups, women’s associations, and mining project steering committees.

Endeavour Mining stands as a leading global gold producer and holds the top position in West Africa. The group operates mines across Sénégal, Côte d’Ivoire, and Burkina Faso, while also advancing several projects within the Birimian belt.
