Dr. Bacary Thior departs prime minister’s cabinet following Ousmane Sonko’s exit

Dr. Bacary Thior has tendered his resignation from the Prime Minister’s cabinet, citing a commitment to his personal principles following the departure of Ousmane Sonko. In a public statement, Dr. Thior reaffirmed his dedication to state service and pledged ongoing support for Ousmane Sonko, who currently leads the Pastef party.

Dr. Bacary Thior officially announced his withdrawal from the Prime Minister’s cabinet, a move prompted by the conclusion of Ousmane Sonko’s tenure as Prime Minister.

In a message disseminated this Thursday, the former Technical Advisor for Health clarified that his decision was made “in accordance with his guiding principles.”

“Following the cessation of Mr. Ousmane Sonko’s duties as Prime Minister, I have chosen to leave the Cabinet, consistent with my deeply held principles,” he articulated in his statement.
