Democratic Republic of Congo: political dialogue or renewed unrest?

Following a period of relative calm, the Democratic Republic of Congo is once again at a critical political juncture. An ultimatum issued to President Tshisekedi, demanding the convocation of a national dialogue, officially expired on August 15. In response, the Head of State announced on Sunday his intention to address the nation, promising to elaborate on the framework and objectives of this crucial dialogue. However, the opposition coalition C64 has taken a different approach, urging citizens to participate in street protests scheduled for September 15. The pressing question now is whether these escalating DRC political tensions can be de-escalated through dialogue or if the nation is poised for renewed unrest.
