Algerian premier minister concludes visit to Niamey after energy project handover
Niamey, Niger — Algeria’s Prime Minister, Mr. Sifi Ghrieb, departed Niamey on Wednesday, wrapping up an official visit that included the inauguration of the Algerian-Nigerien Solidarity Power Plant, a 40-megawatt facility gifted to Niger by Algeria.
The project underscores the deep-rooted ties of brotherhood, cooperation, and solidarity between Algeria and Niger, while also strengthening the West African nation’s energy infrastructure. In attendance were key figures including Niger’s Prime Minister, Mr. Ali Lamine Zeine Mahaman, with whom Mr. Ghrieb co-chaired the inauguration ceremony.
The Prime Minister was representing President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who conveyed fraternal greetings and Algeria’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Niger. Following the ceremony, Mr. Ghrieb met with Niger’s President, General Abdourahamane Tiani, to reaffirm Algeria’s dedication to collaborative efforts in development and regional stability.
At Niamey International Airport, Mr. Ghrieb was seen off by Niger’s Prime Minister and Algeria’s Ambassador to Niger, Mr. Ahmed Saadi, marking the conclusion of a visit that highlighted shared regional priorities.
