Senegal’s new government formalizes diomaye and sonko cohabitation

Le président sénégalais, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, prononce un discours après avoir reçu le rapport officiel sur le massacre de Thiaroye lors d’une cérémonie au palais présidentiel de Dakar, le 16 octobre 2025.

Senegal has officially inaugurated a new government, a significant development that clearly delineates the cohabitation between President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and his Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko. This formation marks a pivotal moment in the nation’s political landscape, establishing the framework for their shared governance.

Notably, the newly unveiled cabinet does not include the Pastef party as a direct entity. Instead, the composition reflects a strategic alignment that underscores the distinct roles of the President and Prime Minister while working towards common national objectives. This arrangement is set to shape the immediate future of Senegalese policy and administration.
