A new boeing 737-800 bolsters air Sénégal’s fleet
Air Sénégal has announced the addition of a new Boeing 737-800 to its growing fleet. This strategic acquisition, fully financed by the State of Senegal, underscores the nation’s commitment to enhancing its air sovereignty and strengthening the operational capabilities of its national airline.
According to the general management of Air Sénégal, this latest addition marks a significant milestone in the ongoing modernization of its fleet and the expansion of its services. The new aircraft is poised to bolster Air Sénégal’s operational capacity, solidifying its presence across both regional and international aviation markets.
Tidiane Ndiaye, the Director General of Air Sénégal, commended the unwavering support from the State. He emphasized that this acquisition reflects the government’s strong confidence in the airline’s vision and its considerable potential for future growth within the African current affairs landscape.
Beyond its commercial routes, the newly acquired aircraft is set to undertake a special mission: transporting the flame for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. This historic event marks the first time an Olympic competition will be hosted on the African continent.
For this momentous occasion, the Boeing 737-800 will feature a distinctive livery adorned with the vibrant colors of the Dakar 2026 JOJ. Air Sénégal intends for this aircraft to serve as a flying ambassador for Senegal, significantly contributing to the nation’s international prestige through this landmark event.
