Niamey, June 4, 2026 — The Prytanée Militaire de Niamey (PMN) celebrated its brightest students this week during an awards ceremony that capped the 2025-2026 academic year. Under the distinguished patronage of Chief of Staff General Salaou Barmou, the event shone a spotlight on the academic achievements of the institution’s most dedicated cadets.
The ceremony honored students who topped their classes across all grade levels, from sixth form to high school graduation. By recognizing these outstanding performers, school leaders emphasized the core values of merit, perseverance, and discipline—principles that define the PMN’s rigorous training philosophy and shape its reputation as a center of academic and military excellence.
Dignitaries from across Niger and the diplomatic community gathered to witness the moment. Among them were members of the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland (CNSP), advisors from the Council for National Refoundation (CCR), accredited foreign diplomats, the Governor of Niamey, senior defense and security officials, proud parents, and other invited guests.
Academic excellence on display
The awards reflect the PMN’s unwavering commitment to academic rigor. This year’s top performers delivered outstanding results that underscore both student dedication and the institution’s high standards of instruction.
In the junior division, the top student achieved an impressive average of 18.55 out of 20, while in the senior division, the leading cadet earned a score of 17.44 out of 20. These figures not only highlight individual brilliance but also the effectiveness of the teaching staff and administrative leadership in fostering an environment of continuous improvement.
Celebrating effort and shaping tomorrow’s leaders
Beyond the recognition of academic success, the ceremony served as a powerful reminder of the values that guide the PMN. It celebrated the hard work, resilience, and commitment of every cadet while inspiring others to strive for greatness in academics, civic responsibility, and military discipline.
The PMN views this annual tradition as more than a celebration—it is a reaffirmation of its mission: to cultivate a disciplined, skilled generation of young Nigeriens ready to serve their nation with honor. These outstanding results are not just a reward for past efforts; they are a call to future leaders to uphold the legacy of excellence that defines the Prytanée Militaire de Niamey.
