On Wednesday, Morocco reiterated its steadfast commitment before the African Union’s Peace and Security Council (AU PSC), emphasizing the critical need to bolster safeguards for children impacted by armed conflicts. The North African nation specifically highlighted efforts to prevent their recruitment, ensure their safety, and facilitate their sustainable reintegration into society.
During a pivotal AU PSC session dedicated to the “protection of child soldiers in Africa,” the Moroccan delegation underscored the enduring vulnerability of children, who frequently bear the brunt of ongoing conflicts across the continent. They stressed that these young individuals are often subjected to forced recruitment, widespread violence, and a severe lack of educational opportunities, factors that irrevocably jeopardize their future prospects.
