A French national, apprehended in August 2025 by Mali’s military junta and accused of plotting against state institutions, has been convicted by the specialized anti-terrorism court’s criminal chamber.
Malian judicial authorities have sentenced a French intelligence operative, who held diplomatic status, to 20 years in prison. The conviction, for « atteinte à la sûreté de l’État » (undermining state security), follows nearly ten months of detention for the individual in the capital, Bamako. This verdict against the operative in the Sahelian nation, currently governed by a junta, was confirmed this Friday through judicial channels.
